Nuuly Clothing Rental
I love renting clothing from Nuuly every month
If you haven’t heard of Nuuly it’s a clothing rental company that has all your favorites from Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. It isn’t as fancy as Rent the Runway but I’ve been doing it for about a year now and really like it. It costs $88 per month for 6 items and you can add up to two more for $20 each. All items are avaible for purchase with varying discounts.
Pros of Renting from Nuuly
You get 6 new to you items every month for under $100. This one is huge for me, as I like clothes and I like to have new things to wear all the time. I have saved a ton of money on shopping since I know that every month I get to pick out 6 new things.
You can try new styles that you wouldn’t necessarily buy and see if you like them. I usually add one or two items that I like but probably wouldn’t buy. A bright colored sweater, a fun pair of pants, a dress I might only wear once are fun items to rent
Shipping is easy. You just put the items back in the bag they arrived in and send them back. Bonus, you don’t have to clean them, you can send them back dirty. They don’t charge you for damage, not that I damage clothing but accidents happen. I did spill red wine on a sweater once and just sent it back. I didn’t get any extra charges.
They have all kinds of items, fancy dresses, sweater, coats, jumpsuits, rompers and even outerwear for winter sports. I like to look at my calendar before deciding what to order so I can add fun items for different events.
Cons of Renting From Nuuly
My biggest complaint is that it the shipping takes too long. It ships from the east coast and I am in California. They use a three day select which doesn’t deliver on the weekends so sometimes I don’t have the rental items over the weekend. I wish they would offer some sort of upgraded shipping for the west coast but as of now there isn’t anything.
Renting Tips
To avoid the long shipping, I try to drop off my rental bag on Sunday afternoon. That way I can order either Sunday night or first thing Monday morning. I’ve found they usually ship pretty fast and if they ship by Tuesday it arrives by Friday.
Searching Tips
When searching for clothes a few things help me find items. You can save items you like in your closet and then when it’s time to rent again you look through your closet to see what is available and pick from there. I tend to browse items once or twice a week. When I am doing this I make sure I have the Available Now toggle off. Since I am just looking and not ordering I want to see all the clothes they have because at some point those items will most likely be returned and I’ll be able to rent them. When I am picking out items from my closet to rent I go back into the filters and turn the Available Now toggle on, so I only see what is available.
Another search tool I like is View All Styles, when you click this it will automatically sort by For You, or items they think you will like. I browse those items and then I go into the Filter and change that setting to Newest. That way I can see all the new items just listed. I have found that when I search this way I often get clothing with tags still attached. The only downfall here is there may not be any reviews, so the fit could be a little funny.
If you get an item that it really worn or has some sort of an issue just contact them and let them know, they will generally credit your account. While it is a bit of a bummer to get an item that isn’t perfect at least you know you won’t have to pay for it.
All in all, I really like renting from Nuuly and often get compliments on my clothing. It has made my closet feel much bigger and I definitely don’t find myself shopping as much as I used to.
