Train Trips

We drive all the time and sometimes I forget that the train trips are so much fun!  If you live near a train station check out where your train goes and plan a little trip.

I love taking train trips!

Living in Southern California, means that there is pretty much traffic all the time and everywhere.  So it’s nice to hop on the train and not worry about which fastest route to take and what time you should leave to avoid traffic.  Also, instead of watching the road you can sleep, read a book and even get a cocktail.

We’ve done a few train trips recently, we took train to Santa Barbara to see a concert, we took our bikes on the train to San Diego and rode bikes all around Coronado before heading home and we took the train to San Luis Obispo.  In all those places you can get off the train and walk to a few different hotels and restaurants.

These places all have hotels, restaurants and things to do within walking distance of the train.

It’s nice to go to somewhere a few hours away and not drive.  It means your vacation starts sooner, like the second you get on the train you can start relaxing.  While it does limit where you can go once off the train it is also kind of nice.  Take the train to a city that you can explore by foot or bike and just enjoy walking around and eating local.  There are a bunch of Southern California spots where you can get off the train and find everything you need within a few blocks.

Bicycles

Remeber to reserve a spot on the train for your bike if you want to take it with you.

Chargers

Bring your chargers, you can plug in and keep your devices charged.  There is wifi on the train, but it isn’t great.

Booking

First class guarantees you a seat and you get a little box of goodies including an adult beverage.

Take a train trip for your next vacation and see what you think!!
