9 Tips to a Happier Day
Happier days is definitely an ongoing goal.
Here are my tips for having happier days. Of course, life gets int he way and throws some curveballs, but these little tips help.
#1 Don’t waste time or energy when things don’t go right. That car that cut you and and caused your coffee to spill . . . Clean it up and move on. Complaining and blaming is not going to make you feel better, in fact it is only going to bring up the irritated feelings again. Accept them and try to move on with your day. Don’t let one or two little things snowball to ruin your day.
#2 Have a morning plan. Wake up and get up as whatever time you set for yourself and get those first few things done. Don’t hot snooze 5 times, train yourseld to get up. It will make you feel more productive and set the tone for the day. Here is my current morning plan. Also, accomplishing these few tasks will set your tone for the day, you got up and got them done, and now you can conquer the rest of the day
#3 Schedule some outside time. Unless its pouring rain, get outside for at least 20 minutes a day, fresh air and a little exercise does wonders for our mind and endorphins and helps make our days happier. Maybe incorporate this into your morning routine
#4 Plan out your day and maybe even your week. Leave yourself some time here and there for when things don’t go right as planned, but with a plan it will be easier to know what to do next instead of getting lost on social media
#5 Don’t forget to Smile.
Just the act of smiling can make you feel happy. Smiling can increase levels of serotonin and dopamine in the body. Even when you don’t feel like it, try to force some smiles 🙂
#6 Be smart about social media. We all like to scroll, give yourself a 30 minute break to mindlessly scroll and see what friends are doing. Set your timer so you don’t lose track of time and get upset with yourself for wasting time. When using social media make sure that what you see is not upsetting you. Follow and like things that make you happy. If looking at social media upsets you or gives you anxiety, take a break or read this to post to learn how to positively change your social media feed.
#7 drink water. Yep, it’s an easy one. Staying hydrated helps keep headaches away and helps you not over snack. This is my favorite cup for around the house and in the car beacuse it has a straw and doean’t spill if I am lounging on the couch.
#8 Practice Gratitude. When the going gets tough remeber what you are thankful for and say it to yourself. Even if little things are all that you can think of, like thank you for the green light, thank you coffee for helping me wake up. Gratitude is associated with greater happiness.
#9 Give yourself 20-30 minutes of downtime to relax in the evenings before bed. Use this time to let your mind calm down. Do what works for you yoga, meditation, plan your day, read . . . Take this time slow down and see what works to help you get a better nights sleep.
Happy Days Ahead
